USE CASES

How private tutors use Cadence today.

Prepaid lesson packs that track themselves down to the last session
Most SG tutors run on 10-lesson packs paid upfront — usually S$650 to S$1,200 depending on level and subject. Cadence holds the pack balance against the student's profile, ticks it down as each lesson completes, and pings the parent on WhatsApp when there are two sessions left. The renewal Stripe link goes out automatically so packs don't lapse mid-month and create that awkward 'eh sorry which lesson was this' conversation at the start of the next session. Validity windows (90 days, six months, whatever your policy is) are enforced too.
Parent-pays, student-attends routing without losing either thread
Mr Tan books and pays for the package. Aiden, 14, is the one actually showing up on Wednesday at 7pm. Cadence keeps both contacts linked to the same student profile — billing, package renewals, and policy notifications go to the parent's WhatsApp, while session timing confirmations and 'I'll be 5 mins late' messages flow to the student's WhatsApp. Neither side gets spammed with the wrong message, and you never have to play telephone between a parent who's at work and a student who's at school.
Trial-to-package conversion at a different price tier
New leads from Carousell or a referral message you wanting a trial. Cadence offers your trial rate (commonly S$30-60 instead of the regular S$80-120) for the first session, books it into your calendar, and routes the parent through Stripe. After the trial, your Owner Agent prompts you with 'Aiden's trial done — push the 10-pack at S$750?' One reply and the regular-rate package link goes out. No manual price-switching, no forgotten upsell.
Exam-month intensive surges without breaking your schedule
October-November for O-Levels, May for IB, every two weeks for IGCSE mocks — exam season means some of your students jump from one session a week to four. Cadence handles the schedule pivot: temporarily uncap that student's weekly bookings, add the extra slots into your block-out-aware calendar, and bill the intensive lessons against a separate exam-prep pack at your premium rate. Once the exam passes, things drop back to normal automatically — no need to manually undo the override.
THE REALITY

Before Cadence vs after.

BEFORE
Without Cadence

It's 10pm on Sunday. You've got 17 unanswered WhatsApp messages — three parents asking for next week's slot, two students asking what page to revise, one mum asking how many lessons are left on Aiden's pack, and one dad you're pretty sure paid you in cash three weeks ago but you can't remember. Your physical desk diary has the same Tuesday 5pm written twice. Your bank app shows a PayNow you can't match to any student. You teach 25 hours next week and at this rate you'll spend another 6 hours on admin.

AFTER
With Cadence

Bookings come in through WhatsApp and land on the right slot. Pack balances are visible per student on your phone. Parents get billing pings, students get timing pings, neither overlap. Trial conversions happen with a one-word reply. Exam-season surges plug in and unplug cleanly. You teach 25 hours, admin takes 30 minutes a week, and Sunday night your phone is quiet for the first time in two years.

WHAT IT DOES FOR YOU

The bits that matter most to you.

Prepaid lesson packs
10-lesson packs at any S$ amount you set, validity window enforced, auto-nudge for renewal at two sessions left. Multiple active packs per student if you run mixed-subject coaching.
Parent + student dual routing
Linked profiles where billing flows to the parent's WhatsApp and timing flows to the student's. Sibling support without creating two separate accounts.
Trial-rate conversion flow
Different price tier for the first lesson, then an Owner Agent prompt to push the full-rate package after. Your conversion rate stops depending on whether you remember to follow up.
Exam-season intensive mode
Toggle a student into intensive scheduling, the calendar absorbs the surge, billing routes to an exam-prep pack. Reverts to normal cadence after the exam date.
Cash payments still tracked
Some older students hand you cash. Mark the lesson cash-paid in two taps and the audit log records the revenue alongside your Stripe income for clean bookkeeping.

FAQ

The questions private tutors ask.

How do I handle lesson packs where parents prepay 10 lessons?
This is the default tutor setup in Cadence. Define your pack (e.g. 10 lessons at S$750, valid 90 days) once, and the moment a parent confirms, Cadence sends a Stripe checkout link via WhatsApp. The balance ticks down per completed lesson, the parent gets an automated nudge when two sessions remain, and a renewal link follows. You can run multiple pack tiers in parallel — say S$650 for Sec 2 Maths and S$900 for JC Econs — and the right one gets offered based on which student is booking.
Can siblings share one package, or do I create a different one each?

How do I communicate with the PARENT but coordinate timing with the STUDENT?

Do I have to charge less for trial lessons in the system?

Exam-month means I'm doing 4 sessions/week for some students — does the system handle that surge?

I take cash sometimes from older students — does Cadence still track that?
